Doctors usually divide potential laser eye surgery patients into categories: the ideal/good candidate, the less-than-ideal candidate, and the non-candidate. The ideal laser eye surgery candidate has a high probability of a complication-free result. The less-than-ideal candidate has some risk for complications and would discuss them thoroughly with a surgeon before proceeding.
